The Chronicle of a Good Leader

by Albert Laoeng

He came meek as a deer, stayed like lion and left as a cat.  Mr. Virgiliio “Ace” Boado is now a former principal of Cuenca National High School.  He was transferred to Don Elpidio Quirino National High School in Agoo, La Union since the start of SY 2012 – 2013.  He is a good soldier who follows order.

It was September 2006 when he first entered CNHS. During his first meeting with us, I noticed a modulation of shyness on his voice.  As days went on, I noticed his face sagged a little bit seemingly a picture of an overworked employee.  I could still remember he said that his one year being a leader was equivalent to his ten years of teaching.  I could not say if he had some regrets then.  But not so very long when he was able to embed to the hearts of the faculties and the students his battle cry “We Strive to Make a Difference”, and then numerous changes and improvements were achieved.

I was in a seminar for K to 12 when he texted me “Abet last day ko na sa school ngayon”.  I heard some rumors before that he would be transferred to this school and that school so I thought this was another like that.  But when I received his text, I felt I was not ready to say anything and not ready to adjust for new leadership.  I sent him back words of assurances and encouragement on his new challenge.  That happened during vacation time.  We did not have any sendoff party to a leader who deserved everything.  He left and there he went.

To sir Ace, my leader, my friend, you will always succeed because you are success and you will always be loved because you are love.  May God bless you.
